Michael Powers is the youngest of six brothers and two sisters, the son of the late William G. Powers, Sr., and the late Mary Baker Powers. He grew up in, and currently resides in the City of Ogdensburg, located in St. Lawrence County in New York State. He graduated from the Ogdensburg Free Academy before entering the New York State Correctional Services Training Academy. He has served as a New York State Correctional Officer since 1990 at various New York State Prisons and has remained extremely passionate about his profession.

Mr. Powers enjoys spending time with his wife, Heidi, and their four children, triplets; Gerard, Michaela and Isabel; and their youngest daughter, Hannah.
